Wood, metal and a lil bit of hard plastic, surely recycle?

Take it to the recycling depot and ask. You can't just put it in the bin.

I put mine out for recycling but the binmen refused to take it so it had to go in the black (general) bin.

Oh, just put it in the bin! (Not the recycle one)

Hopefully every item that has passed through the toilet seat was recyclable.
It has helped the world become a better place.
Give it a decent burial, recite a fitting eulogy and say your final goodbyes.

Wood, Metal and Plastic must be separated, as they are recycled as individual materials.

It seems therefore that your Toilet seat is something for your general waste bin.

Most plastic is not recyclable, a toilet seat is thermosetting plastic , so single use only not recyclable.

not necessarily Eddie, My old ones are compressed wood, mdf type stuff, not recyclable and there are loads of wood and compressed wood ones for sale.

im recycling much less than i used to. we have two bins, recycling and not recylcling. If a waste article is made of two or more reyclables it is refrred to as contaminated and is not recyclable. ie a wooden toilet seat should be taken to the dump and place in whatever arrangement they have for wood, metal fittings, etc. if wood covered in plastic it cannot be separated and goes in the general waste. best try and hide it so the binman cannot see it.
My binman was playing jobsworth last week when he refused to take a quantity of glass in the general waste he obviously does not know the glass collection is ony for bottles and jars. God knows why they cant be mixed.

The chinese who process our waste are getting fed up with all the
contaminated waste we are sending them.

PS. what happens to all the gumph (sellotape, metal staples) attached to cardboard that goes out?

Sellotape floats off in the pulping process and is skimmed out, staples are picked up by overhead magnets in the sorting phase or sink to the bottom when the paper is pulped

Thought I would put in my tuppence worth before I am off,a friend of mine in mid Argyll (Scotland) told me and I have said this on here before,most but not all of the public in Britain are being conned in regards to recycling, because the powers that be don't have the proper facilities for separation of waste,

Recycling, if Not already a Con , it's quickly going that way.

China No longer wants Plastic and Paper/Cardboard for recycling. The result is that more and more is going to landfill sites in the UK.
