How to make old paint polish once again?

Hello in that location!
I have a ´72 Crash-land with only 16K miles on it. Pigment is original, but kind of faded.
When trying to smoothen with a polishing machine information technology´due south about getting more faded/uneven.
Any idea anyone?

Bjorn Tore

If you lot're talking about the darker blue, it's probably weathered somewhat, and a buffer/polisher is going to remove paint. Yous'll peradventure even see the lighter blue showing through if you buff information technology much.

I used to employ a product called CarSkin that really wasn't abrasive, and did a good task of removing oxidation.

If the pigment is faded or oxidized very badly, y'all'll probably accept to wax information technology at to the lowest degree once a calendar month to go along the shine, unless it'south kept under a carport or in a garage full-time.

Wise men talk considering they have something to say; fools talk considering they have to say something.--Plato
Why is it that there'south seldom time to fix information technology right the first fourth dimension, just in that location's always time to prepare it right the second time???

That's not an oil leak :nono: That's SWEAT from all that HORSEPOWER!!

Endeavor using a medium cut polish like 3M's Finnese-information technology or another equivalent.
Your truck looks blue, Turtle Wax makes blue wax for bluish finishes ,and that'll hide light swirls and scratches.
Do smaller areas at a time until you get the hang of information technology. :2cents:

I concord with cep62 apply a 3M product start with a fine dust and piece of work your fashion up. Anyone at your local pigment supply can fill you on the different abrasiveness.

Nu Finish is a practiced shine. I know alot of folks express joy when I say it, simply I have personally made onetime trucks shine with a bottle of nu terminate (as ssen on idiot box), a 100% cotton rag and time. If you are looking for a smoothen, it will practice it for you for about five bucks. In an orangr bottle at any identify that sells auto stuff.

Iv'e had practiced luck in the past with wet sanding deadening/dead pigment. 2000 grit paper on a adept sanding cake with LOTS of water. Then hit it with some diamond 55 on a high speed. It will smoothen upward like new.

This method is not for a beginner however. I skilful on a couple of old junkers before I tried it on my truck. You can easily burn articulate thru to the metal with the high speed polisher

PS, I agree, we need more pics. The Ranger XLT's requite me proficient vibrations :D

Never hesitate to make clean it with laquer thinner. Its fast and volition wipe away the dead oxidized surface.
I gave up on polishing products for old pigment a long time ago. They dont work on quondam pigment, sorry. You'll bulldoze yourself crazy trying to get out the streaks and uneven color. I striking it with the laquer thinner and then wash it good and then wax.
In that location'due south alot of naysayers on this, just then, they arent providing any solutions either.

My suggestion too 69f-110... Not as long lasting equally a most waxes on a new or modern paint job but it works and it works well. and every bit yous said it but takes some good rags and time.
